Art Supply's 8 Essential Edicts
1. WORK HARD AND BE NICE TO PEOPLE
Try hard. Be kind. If you fail at either of these, do your best to right the wrong and give it another go.
2. BE OPEN TO NEW IDEAS
Have a dialogue. Experience different points of view. Fluidity rather than rigidity. Open rather than closed. Let's always be shining a light - not stumbling around in the dark.
3. NEVER SAY SOMETHING IN PRIVATE YOU WOULDN'T WANT MADE PUBLIC
Be tolerant, respectful, inclusive, and intelligent in all your dealings. Art Supply is a creative space where a diverse range of people come together, and we never want that to change.
4. SAY THANK YOU
Appreciate big and small gestures. From client partners to colleagues to vendors: take the time to appreciate everyone's contribution. Taking this a step further-try to acknowledge it whenever you can.
5. LEARN TO GIVE AND TAKE CRITICISM
Oliver Cromwell said it best: "When you stop being better, you stop being good." We know we can't be better unless we're challenged by the talented people around us. When giving and getting feedback: take it seriously and make it constructive, but never make it personal.
6. BE FLEXIBLE
We have a responsibility to our clients and to the projects we serve. One way that we are reminded to be flexible with our partners is by remaining flexible with our creative collaborators in and outside the studio. As much as possible, we want you to be able to work the way you need to in order to balance the demanding needs of our projects with the demanding needs of your life.
7. ALWAYS BE LEARNING
Learn something new as often as possible. Never stop growing. Allow yourself to get lost in the people, places and things that energize and inspire you.
8. GIVE IT AWAY
Share your ideas. Be free with information. When we can, we donate our time and services to the community, and we always give a percentage of our profits back to organizations whose aim is to do good and create more opportunity in the world. The more we give, the more we get.
